I always have a hard time looking back through the week and figuring out what I did so that I can write my blog! But luckily I keep a fairly detailed journal so I can look back and avoid this temporary memory loss. This week went by relatively smoothly and quickly.

Sunday I was still feeling pretty sickly. But we had most of the day free to hang around the house until church. I went to Restoration church at around 5:30 pm. I wasn't feeling very good so I didn't get a whole lot out of the sermon, besides the fact that it was in Spanish. The worship was good apart from the part where I got in trouble with an old lady for chewing gum in church. During worship this little old lady shoves through my row with a tissue. I thought that she was being polite and giving me a tissue because I was coughing and had a runny nose. Well to my surprise after a few poor attempts at trying to talk to me over the loud worship she finally yelled in my ear, "Dame su chiclet" or in other words "give me your gum". Whoops I didn't know that gum was a cultural taboo in church! Well along with trying not to laugh I was embarrassed and wondering if I was back in middle school! Sunday was also elections for the mayor, governor, and other government officials.

Monday I started a five day fast. We had a free day to relax because we didn't have ESL due to schools and such being closed down for the election weekend. It was interesting because on the night of elections they prohibited the purchasing of alcoholic beverages to prevent people getting heated and starting riots. There were no riots on Sunday or Monday night which was good. Monday was a relatively boring day but I had some good devotional time and started a book called The Shack

Tuesday my ESL class went really well. JD who usually teaches with the Sisters of Charity group, decided that on Tuesday he would come and teach with the Colegio San Antonio group because he coaches soccer in the afternoon and isn't able to make it back from his ESL class in time to coach, so he was having to miss teaching in order to go to soccer. Since I have been struggling with my teaching and I was still low on energy. Since JD was coming to my class anyhow I asked him to help me teach my group. We made up a quick lesson plan before class and we ended up teaching them clothing. We put together a list of different clothes and then went around the house and I got some clothes and he got some stuff from the boy's house. To teach them the clothes we pulled them out of the bag and had them repeat the names and then JD put on the different articles one by one. It was probably 87 degrees in that classroom and he had on a ton of clothes, but the kids really enjoyed it. Then we played a little game at the end and my kids were really interactive and I was really happy to have had his help. There was a really funny moment during the class where JD went to pick up a pair of jeans out of his bag and said, "oh I didn't mean to bring these jeans" I saw the butt of the jeans and screamed out, "Oh my gosh, those are mine!!". I had been missing those pair of jeans for about two months now and apparently JD had them in his luggage! It was just very comical because I had been complaining forever about how my pants were missing and Rebecca

Wednesday we had class in the morning and we started a new book called Discover Your Spiritual Gifts by C. Peter Wagner. I have been having a tough time with the book and understanding spiritual gifts. After reading through 1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12, and Ephesians 4, I got a grasp on the biblical truths of spiritual gifts. The church I grew up in had much more of a cessationist attitude so I had a hard time seeing past my limited knowledge and previous judgments on the subject. I am still trying to work past some of that. All who are born again in Christ are given spiritual gifts so I am trying to be more open and discover my own spiritual gift.   We also did trash pick up which went pretty well.  Then some of the girls put on a song, game, and message for the kids which went well.

Thursday I went to Colegio San Antonio and actually got to do the feeding program! It was hot in the tiny kitchen but we made some potatoes, rice, groundbeef and a watermelon drink.  It was fun and then I went to El Puente to teach the youth from Torre Fuerte one of our drimes.  Then we had class and then some internet time.  Thursday was a pretty busy day in general.
Friday I went to Sisters of Charity in the morning and that was pretty fun.  We tried to organize some games with the kids and it worked for a few mintutes but not for very long.  Then we had class and the rest of the night to just hang out as a team.
Tomorrow we are having the choice of either going to managua to go shopping or Masaya!  Well there wasnt a lot to talk about this week but please keep praying for me and I really appreciate the support!
